US Lacrosse modified rules apply for Modified division.
Regular high school rules apply to JV level.

| Eligibility |
JV (grades 9-10) - grade level for 2008-09 school year
Modified (grades 7-8) - grade level for 2008-09 school year

| Check
In |
All team representatives
must check their team in at the tournament. They must "Check
in" at table thirty minutes before their first game. All eligible
players must be listed on each team's official roster. |
| Equipment |
All players must have the following: Lacrosse goggles, mouth guard,
and a regulation women's crosse with regular pocket (not modified).
No hard helmets except the goalie. Goalie must wear helmet with face
mask, separate throat protector, chest protector, goalie gloves, and
for non-H.S. goalies leg padding on the shins and thighs. |
| Participation |
Younger players may play at their coach's discretion.
Eight field players including goalie. Two players
and the goalie must always be behind the restraining line location
depending on size of field. NO PLAYERS MAY PLAY FOR MORE THAN ONE
TEAM. |
| Closely
Guarded |
Closely Guarded - player with the ball has an opponent within a
sticks length. |
| Stick Checking |
Modified checking is defined as checking the stick if it is below
shoulder level, using a downward motion away from the other player's
body. |
| Fouls |
Fouls shall be the same as those outlined in Rule 18 of the US Lacrosse
Women's Rules with the following non-H.S. level modifications:
Modified checking only. (Major Foul)
Modified only: No holding the ball for more than 3 seconds when closely guarded/marked
and the defense has both hands on her stick and is in position to
legally check. (Minor Foul) |
| Time |
Teams will play
two twenty minute running-time halves. Clock will not stop at any time during the game. A common horn will sound to start and end all games. No timeouts are allowed. |
| Tie Games |
There is no overtime.
Any game ending in a tie at the end of regulation remains a tie, except
in the play off games. Play off game ties will be broken by a (5)
minute "sudden victory" overtime period. First goal in "sudden Victory" wins the game. |
| Goal
Rule |
Each team has
thirty (30) seconds to line up for a face off after a goal, or referee
has the ability to award possession to the other team. |
| Point
System |
The tournament
will use the following point system:
Two (2) points for a win
One (1) point for a tie
Zero (0) points for a loss |
| Tiebreaker
for play off will be as follows: |
1) Head to Head
2) Overall record
3) Goal differential- max. on goal difference (7) per game
4) Fewest goals allowed
5) coin flip |
| Games |
Each team will
be guaranteed (3) games. Games will be forty minutes long, comprised
of (2) twenty-minute halves running time. There will be a five-minute
intermission between halves. The clock will not stop at any time during the game. |
| Referees |
The referee has
complete authority in all games. |
| Behavior |
The John Pepper
Tournament enforces a zero tolerance rule in relation to behavior
deemed detrimental to the safety or enjoyment of the games by others.
Any player or spectator instigating verbal insults or abuse or
involved in a fight, will be expelled from the tournament. |
| Awards |
Championship tee-shirts be given to the
winning teams at the conclusion of the tournament |
