• The
Upstate New York region for years has taken pride of it's share
of traditional on-field rivalries and is well known as a hot bed
of lacrosse talent to colleges across the country. Last
year the presence of 40 College Coaches at the boys Invitational
reinforces what many coaches, participants and parents have said, "The
John Pepper Wildcat Invitational is the "Premiere" lacrosse
tournament for high school varsity teams to play in during the
summer season". Many
have touted it as an exceptional event, citing the quality of individual
talent present, central proximity to all field locations and quality
of teams in full-field competition as main reasons for its success. Annually
featuring an invited field of 16 of the Northeast's finest programs,
the Invitational has become a annual stop for collegiate coaches
looking with an eye to the future.
With the achievements of the boys Wildcat Invitational to built
from, 2006 saw the incarnation of the John Pepper Girls Wildcat
Invitational which proved to be another positive step in the growing
family of "John Pepper" events. Sixteen
varsity high school teams from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania
and Ohio participated in the inaugural event helping to make it
a resounding success and in one year has become the type of elite
tournament that is expected from a "John Pepper" event.
